Stage 41: Uhart-Mixta - Saint Jean Le Vieux, 26 kms, Fog/cloud, 17

A Pleasurable Walk...Enjoying the Moment

We woke to happily find the rain past and clouds at ground level. We have climbed quite a bit these past few days, so it's not surprising. It's always nice to walk out into the clouds.
There's always something a little mystical about the experience. Today was no different.

We eventually climbed above it all and witnessed what there was of a sunrise.
I've saved a few pictures to frame:)
We just knew that today would be a special walk.

We pretty much had the road to ourselves as we climbed higher into the foothills and closer to the end  of our walking adventure.  Small, beautiful villages greeted us as we arrived into each valley.
Quiet places to walk and reflect on the past two months. Pilgrim we've travelled far.

I will admit to not wanting the walk to end today. It was that sort of day where I could walk on and on...but Annemarie told me I couldn't.

It was a little like walking in parts of Switzerland with the emerald colours, cows in the upper pastures and the grassed glacial slopes dotted with sheep. Even the houses looked Alp-like.

The last few days has started the process...next journeys. This past week windows have slowly crept open into further possibilities. Time to consider everything as we reenergize...winter is coming:)

Very, very close now...its just down the road. Annemarie just came back in and told me that she found the way out of town..."this pilgrim isn't getting lost on the last day"!
Time to try one of these local French Basque beers. Note the double words on the sign above.
Tomorrow the circle will close. Bon Chemin...
