Last night after posting the blog we met Neil and Sarah for dinner. First a quick look at the bridge which was very nice.
At dinner we were included in a party for Antonio, a peregrino from Spain who has walked over 107,000 kms. I'm not kidding.
The proof.
Don't worry Annemarie, I have no plans for this.
The walk today was the best so far. We finally enjoyed a few trails and for me it was w first day that felt like a Caminho. Less roads and cobbles. So simply some photos from the day...started with the sunrise from the bridge, but of course!
We slept just off the river in the middle of this photo. Nice breakfast with scrambled eggs no less.
I've been missing my chats with the cows. This lovely specimen was one of the few along this route that has been close enough to photograph and to say hi to.
A lovely Roman bridge. Our albergue tonight. Reputed to be the best on the Caminho and we'd heard that you have to book ahead. So we did two stages ago. They have already been turning folks away. There are Germans, Puerto Ricans, Americans and us here tonight. Should be lively!
We walked a short stage to stay here tonight and will pay for this tomorrow with 33 kms on a hot day with a climb to 1,445'. Will be ready for a beer tomorrow night! Lots of trails tomorrow!
107,000 kilometres! Now, if you did add up all the walking you've done, including training walks, where would you be? And over the next 20 years, say, where might you end up? It could happen!
ReplyDeleteLooks like another fantastic day of walking. How do you arrange to meet up with Neil and Sarah when you stay in separate places? "Meet us at the fountain at 7 o'clock," that kind of thing? Just curious.
Good to see a picture of a dog that isn't angry or barking. Yesterday, Neil even got one of you petting a dog!
Bom Caminho!
Ken
Hi Ken, well, I've walked over here after this about 3,700 + maybe about the same with various other walks and training in the past 3-4 years. Hmmmm? Not even remotely close:) Besides, Annemarie would likely kill me just as Christine would you!
DeleteLast night was the first time in separate accommodations, so we just looked for them in a cafe along our passage through town for breakfast. Worked well.
