Stage 18: Laxe - Arou, 17 kms, mostly sun, 24

Hey David, surprise! In time for your morning coffee today. We stopped at a village to have lunch and found wifi. Not expecting the same where we will stay tonight, a tiny village. I had beautiful fresh sardines for lunch with a nice caña of beer...Bueno!!  All those little heads made the meal a bit personal I thought! Sorry! Sorry!

As suggested, we started our day well with a good breakfast for once. Breakfast in Spain is usually just toast and coffee/tea, not of much use when hiking all day. We usually supplement this with some yogurt, bread and an orange before we start. I guess after the late night eating that goes on here people just want something light to break their fast. Makes sense. I have some actual sunrise photos, but I liked this little church on the hill as we started our first descent.

The coast walk today was the first stage that was fairly easy. A nice relief to all joints and body parts. The first three days have been interesting to say the least. Very fulfilling and of course simply stunning.

Same today...hope this isn't getting too boring to look at?

We went around the far point a couple of days ago...so very far back down the trail.

Back to the day. We met our first walkers today, doing a couple of sections of the Faros.

Day packs noted. They told us that most folks send their main bags by taxi on this route because it's so difficult. The hotel reception told us the same thing. No where in the material I read did it even suggest this. Now we know...wish we'd known the first few days. Now we know. This will happen tomorrow if we can make the arrangements from our small town.

The next beach was stunning, backed by a lagoon with bird life...

and a boardwalk to permit us to cross over with minimal damage to the ecosystem. 

By now it was time for a rest stop, so of course there was a bar available as always...not. But today there was!

Sufficiently rested we were off for a lot more boring scenery...

And then we were there...a pretty little town. Buildings all painted bright lively colours. I guess the winters are pretty bleak along this coast. Very wet for sure!
