After naps yesterday and some recovery time followed by a good meal prepared by a Camino Mother, we felt much better. We eat at 20:30, and yet we are always the first into the seating area used for the main meal of the day..back of the bar. 
Then a little time for the sunset.
There was sufficient nutrition to kick start a small army last night! Our hostess looked after us extremely well.
And time for bed...a long day.
Mother Camino who ran the bar/hostel was up early to make us a simple breakfast including green tea and coffee! We each had two!! Then off into the early morning light as a comparatively short day so no need to blast off really early in the dark. Rob had put yesterday behind him with a good sleep, but it was probably the ice cream floating in whiskey that served as dessert last night!! It was very good:)

I think that I decided that this was kind of the sunrise this morning. A tough choice.
We continued through the fog just enjoying the moment. 
Small villages and farms with loads of dogs.
We largely walked alone with our thoughts the second half of the day. Sometimes i find the Camino a good place to go deep, meditate and simply sort through things. That place between the present and the edge, what I sometimes refer to as the 'pleasure of the walk'.
Annemarie has arrived in London. We will all meet in Santiago in two days. We complete the Invierno in Lalin and have joined with the Sabreses Way as it winds its way west from the Via de la Plata in Zamora. A beautiful walk in its own right. We are just 57kms from Santiago. We will take a long day on the road tomorrow, 36 kms. Getting nearer....first indicators!
Ground fog rolled in and made our walk very memorable.
Rob decided to play golf with the amazing pine cones, not sure where that idea came from, but whatever.
A very scenic walk today...really enjoyed it.
We started from close by the foot of this mountain... Just danced out the kilometres.
A few highlites. They called their cow after us 
And, we are in the center of the pork region!
There is a special regional dish here that I might try tonight and there is a Michelin award restaurant just down stairs...how convenient!! Report to follow!

It seems that you can take the walking out of golf, but you can't take the golfing out of the walker--or something.

ReplyDeleteNext week. The usual jitters. All is well other than a sore knee which I've been resting. Not swollen, so I haven't been icing it, but it's sore in a strange way. I really don't want to go down the physiotherapy road again.

I'm looking forward to learning about Rob's reaction to arriving in Santiago. Or will he golf across the plaza?

You will be fine. Ice the knee any way. There can be a bit of inflammation deep inside that you won't see. Also as you know, the body reacts in funny ways to stress. Both my knees are normal now. No pain, but my right one was bugging me before I departed. Achillies is happy...me too!

You guys really did bounce back in grande fashion - from the heartening hospitality offered by mother camino to the morning's mystical misty trail, surely it doesn't get much better than that!! It's part of what makes being on pilgrimage in this way such a special experience - no wonder you were in the zone. Thanks for sharing it all.

We are in the final countdown ourselves. As you are laying your packs down and walking into the cathedral in Santiago we will be picking ours up and beginning the long journey to Lisbon. What a privilege for us all.

Yes, I'm as interested as everyone else to see how he responds. Annemarie told me that she was very excited just taking the bus in from the airport this morning! Safe journey to Lisbon. See you in about two weeks! Lots to share by then no doubt!
