Cahors: cool, 22. Tuesday Sept 1, 2015

Time To Walk On!

Because I'm going a bit nuts sitting around here. Another slow day with a bit of sight seeing and wandering. Last night was when all the excitement occurred as we had a huge storm blow through while out at dinner. We sat out on the terrace and things got off to a nice start with champagne to celebrate our anniversary.
The food was amazing!

Then the storm hit. Wave after wave of lightning, perhaps the most fearsome display I've ever witnessed! Less than a second between strikes. There were hundreds of explosions and it was stunning! I have video, a single photo doesn't tell you very much.
They moved everyone inside the small restaurant. It just became insane! Finally a break and we moved towards our hotel as fast as possible. Not fast enough as we were caught in the rain again. Arrived wet, but glad to make it before the heavy rains started up! Just watched the local news, 153kph winds and 250,000 lightning strikes in our Lott area. 1 million nation wide...crazy! Our area has been declared for a state of emergency. Walking through the downed trees tomorrow could be interesting.

Today we went out for a walk about to see a few things in the old town and to see how my foot was doing. Good news is the foot is healing and we will continue on tomorrow. The old city wall.

Jacques finally walked into town to keep our lunch date. He was caught in the rains and winds where he was last night, and as bad as it was in our area, it sounded worse with trees down, etc.
After a nice lunch we wandered the old town together and took in the old central buildings.

Then all too soon we said our goodbyes. Such is the Camino. Folks come along, you become close very quickly, and then we go our own ways. We had a lot of fun, laughs and good meals together. Your company will be missed.
Time to head off tomorrow. A nice walk planned with decent weather having returned, but not too hot. It's been hard to stay for two days, one would have been better as I'm feeling pretty lethargic, but that will change in the morning. It will be nice to get back on le Chemin tomorrow...with the usual morning climb! Annemarie is set to go too.

Bon Chemin!
